Biography

Giuseppe Scotti is Of Counsel at Miller Shah LLP, located in the Milan office.

Giuseppe received an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School, and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Parma. He began his career in international arbitration as a trainee at Derek Elliot Law Firm in Paris, and later worked as a Summer Associate at Pavia & Harcourt LLP in New York.

Giuseppe is a business lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. He specializes in corporate and commercial law, insolvency, and litigation and arbitration. His M&A practice focuses on the sale of companies and shareholdings, where he regularly represents sellers. Many of these transactions involve foreign buyers, including multinational corporations and private equity funds, and some fall under Italy’s Golden Power foreign investment rules. Giuseppe also serves as an arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional proceedings.

From 2015 to 2024, Giuseppe was Of Counsel at Macchi di Cellere Gangemi in Milan. There he advised on commercial and corporate matters, banking litigation, insolvency, M&A and arbitration. Earlier, he was an Associate at Baker & McKenzie in Bologna, where he practiced commercial, corporate and insolvency law, arbitration and litigation. Giuseppe is currently Partner at Scotti Studio Legale Associato, with offices in Parma and Milan.

Giuseppe has been active in the international legal community for many years. He served on the Executive Committee of AIJA (International Association of Young Lawyers) from 2009 to 2017. He was AIJA’s National Representative for Italy from 2011 to 2014 and again in 2017, and Vice President of its Insolvency Law and Litigation Commissions. He is now an Honorary Member. He has taught civil procedure and corporate governance in the EFLIT program (English for Law and International Transactions) at the University of Parma Law School. He has also taught at the Summer School on Transnational Commercial Agreements, Litigation and Arbitration of the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for International Legal Education. He has organized and spoken at many conferences in Italy and abroad, and has published several legal articles.
