Ian S. Lam Associate

Biography

Ian S. Lam is an Associate at Miller Shah LLP in the Philadelphia office.

Ian previously served as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, which he joined through the Attorney General’s Honors Program in 2023. There, he represented the United States in civil actions throughout the country, litigating in 18 federal district and appellate courts nationwide. As lead counsel, Ian secured favorable decisions in multiple cases of first impression and presented oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Ian received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of The George Washington Law Review, the Moot Court Board, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honors Board. While in law school, Ian also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Christopher R. Cooper of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and as a student attorney with the Jacob Burns Community Legal Clinics’ Immigration Clinic.

Ian received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. At Cornell, he served as President of the Cornell International Affairs Review and as a Research Fellow with the ILR School’s Worker Institute.

Ian previously worked for the firm as an ILR Credit Intern, Project Analyst, and Law Clerk.

Personal Interests

In addition to exploring the latest and greatest restaurants with his wife, Ian enjoys backpacking, fishing, and tropical fishkeeping. When he is not doing any of those things, he dedicates his time to honing his skills as a semi-professional balloon animal artist.
